Global Mamas is growing and we invite you to be a part of it. Your donation will help us create sustainable income opportunities for nearly 200 craftswomen in Ghana.

“I am most excited about the Fair Trade Zone because owning our own facility cements the future of Global Mamas for the next generation.”

– Patience Essibu Treve, People Development Manager

At Global Mamas we’ve set our sights on a big dream that's been in the pipeline now for several years: the development of the Fair Trade Zone. This campus style facility will be located in Ghana's Eastern Region and over time will provide sustainable income opportunities for nearly 200 craftswomen. Our vision is to create a model environment for ethical production which creates jobs, demonstrates best practices in fair trade production, incorporates eco-friendly construction, and offers a preschool for the Mamas’ children.

We are thrilled to report that:

  • We have the land! (Learn more about our progress).
  • We are close to acquiring funds from a local organization for the initial structure - a large, three room building with a covered, open-air space for batiking.

Once the structure is complete we need to transform the empty building into a thriving Global Mamas workplace. For that we need your help. We have to get connected to the local water system (for the batikers), and to the power grid (for the seamstresses), and we need to get the space organized for an initial staff of 60 Mamas. This means sewing stations, batiking stations, quality control tables, storage, bio-gas toilets, and more. Please consider a donation to Global Mamas as we bring the Fair Trade Zone to life.

“The Fair Trade Zone will create much needed jobs for women in my community. Thank you for your support.”

– Gladys Adimer, Krobo General Manager
